LOW LEVEL LASER THERAPY FOR HORSES AND DOGS.

Laser and healing

Laser Therapy is used to stimulate cells that are working sub-optimally or those in an "injured" condition.  It does this by the promotion of the body's own analgesic, vasodilatory and anti-inflammatory responses.

When stimulated by Laser in this way healing is accelerated, thereby greatly enhancing recovery from accidental or post-surgical tissue trauma and soft tissue injuries such as torn tendons or muscles.  LLLT is also extremely effective in neutralizing infection or where wounds are 'non-healing'.

Healed tissue that has been treated with laser has been shown to have improved quality and tensile strength, minimising adhesions and scarring.

It is especially useful as it can be used in the very early stages of injury to increase the speed, quality and tensile strength of tissue repair.  Even old scar tissue has shown improvement after laser treatment.  Pre-existing scar tissue and non-healing wounds are considered to improve due to the increased level of collagen brought about by laser treatment.

Low Level Laser can work synergistically with manipulation and has fewer contraindications than ultrasound therapy.  I incorporate laser therapy into your horse's treatment, where appropriate and also find it excellent for dogs and people.

LLLT is used by many top physiotherapists around the world including equestrian teams due to its recognised benefits and has been for a number of years especially in USA, we are now catching up here in the UK as to how and why it is a health professionals much needed tool. Misunderstood by many uneducated people but now with more research via many pioneering doctors it cannot be argued the effectiveness of the 'true' cold lasers used by health professionals.
