My Approach
“Find something you care about and care deeply”
I work with the whole horse - not just the area where discomfort is showing up. My approach is grounded in equine science, extensive hands-on experience, and advanced equine-specific education in manual therapy.
I hold a Foundation Degree (HND) in Applied Equine Science, completed before university-based veterinary physiotherapy programmes became widely available in the UK. My early professional training included ITEC diplomas with the late world-renowned physiotherapist Mary Bromiley, forming the foundation of my work in equine sports therapy and rehabilitation.
Over the past 20+ years, I have undertaken extensive postgraduate CPD across equine and human manual therapy disciplines. This has shaped a practical, anatomy-led approach incorporating advanced soft-tissue techniques, myofascial release, and functional assessment well beyond basic massage.
More recently, I completed advanced training in equine osteopathic principles and manual therapy through the EDO Equine Osteopathy programme at the Vluggen Institute. This training emphasises whole-body assessment, inter-system relationships, and precise manual techniques tailored specifically to equine structure and function.
Each horse is assessed individually, considering posture, movement, compensatory patterns, and workload. My work is informed by osteopathic principles, meaning I consider how the body functions from the inside out. Rather than treating only the area of discomfort, I aim to identify underlying patterns and root causes, supporting the horse’s natural function and long-term soundness.
Treatment is always adapted to the horse in front of me, with the aim of improving comfort, efficiency of movement, and long-term soundness. I am happy to work alongside veterinary surgeons and other professionals where appropriate, particularly in complex or ongoing cases. Read more…
